Care Program

A "ministry of friendship" that provides compassionate participant-focused visitation, encouragement, and non-medical support for those affected by HIV.

“You have given us hope.  We have met with doctors and social workers; but none of them encouraged us the way you did.  This has been so hard, you have no idea how much your help means to us.”  –Care Program Participant

The Care Program links participants with a trained volunteer (or team) who is committed to support and encourage the participant.  Activities with the participant may consist of driving to doctor appointments, taking participant to a food bank, visiting with participant in their home, going to movies, dinner or activities together, etc.  Involvement in this program involves a simple intake procedure and then setting a meeting with the potential care-provider volunteer or team and the participant to see if it is a fit for the participant.

Care Program guidelines:

-          Linking of participants with volunteers is contingent upon volunteer availability.

-          The participant directs the relationship (within proper norms) and may opt out at any time.

-          The length of the care program for a participant and volunteer is indefinite, as long as both parties are able and willing to continue the partnership.
