As the Holiday Season is upon us, HIV Care Link would like to take the opportunity to tell you how very thankful we are for all of the volunteer support, financial contributions, and continued sacrifice of prayer you offer up for the Lord’s ministry to those affected with HIV/AIDS. We are eternally grateful for your time, talents and tithes.  May you be blessed beyond measure with God’s greatest treasures.

As 2008 comes to a close, we are asking you to consider a year-end donation to HIV Care Link. We have not been immune to the financial difficulties that our nation has faced. We are cutting what few costs we can—like removing two pages from this newsletter—but it is not enough. We need your support so that we can continue making a very real difference in the lives of people living with HIV.  This Christmas, what if you gave a gift to HIV Care Link in honor of someone you love?
$500 gift would cover the costs of one work project.
$250 could go towards our Client Care Program.
$150 helps to support a Safe Presentation to our youth.

Christmas is a time for miracles. A time for hope. A time for helping those in need. Won’t you please give generously so that we may continue the work of Christ to people who often feel forgotten or forsaken? Please give generously so that the watching world will tangibly see our Savior’s love in action. Please give generously so that this Christmas the hope and love of Christ goes forth to people living with HIV.

May the Love and Peace and Joy of this holy season be upon you and those you love!

Ministry Spotlighthttp://www.hivcarelink.org//about/news/ministry-spotlight.aspx@updateDatehttp://www.hivcarelink.org//about/news/ministry-spotlight.aspxBy Jeff Lynch, Project Coordinator

Occasionally, HIV Care Link is called into action where our ability to act quickly means the difference between a client finding his belongings in the street or in a safe storage facility. Recently, Joe had to vacate his apartment on a moment’s notice. We were contacted on a Friday and Joe had to be out of his apartment the next day. We already had a move planned for Saturday morning and so, after completing the morning project, I brought the U-Haul truck to Joe’s apartment building at about 1 PM. There, I rendezvoused with two other members of the Care Link staff and a hastily gathered group of committed volunteers. Joe’s belongings were loaded into the truck in the pouring rain and moved to a temporary storage facility. About two weeks later, we were able move his possessions from the storage facility into Joe’s new home.

This is not an unusual scenario. Many of our clients live on some sort of assistance, ranging from $600-$800 per month. That’s all they get each month. Most of them have some medical or pharmacy bills each month, plus rent, food, utilities, etc. You can imagine that this creates a very precarious financial situation. There are months when their social security check just doesn’t stretch far enough. That’s when they have to make difficult decisions about what bills to pay. Sometimes, landlords aren’t very understanding.

Your support of HIV Care Link allows us to help folks who are caught in difficult circumstances. HIV Care Link is the only organization specifically helping people living with HIV/AIDS move from one residence to another. It’s not the only help we offer. But this service is a lifesaver for our clients. If it wasn’t for our supporters and volunteers, there would be a lot more Joes in Denver coming home to find their belongings in the street. Thank you for your support!
